Music Day: #letsrestart

The XXIX edition of Music Day, an event dedicated to record collectors and music lovers, took place in Rome on May 15-16, 2021. Returning after nine months of suspension due to the pandemic – “the time it takes to have a child” was the bitterly comment of Claudio Fuiano, record producer – the Roman record fair attracted a very large audience to which it offered more than 50 vinyl and CD stands and the presentation of some new works.

Saturday morning Beat Records, a Roman label specialized in soundtracks, presented two new releases, Fuga dal Bronx by Francesco de Masi, and Belli e brutti ridono tutti by Giacomo Dell’Orso, and announced the joint publication Beat Records – CFSoundtracks of Straziami, ma di baci saziami by Armando Trovajoli. In the afternoon Max Gazzè presented his new album, La matematica dei rami, available on vinyl and CD, recorded with Daniele Silvestri’s Magical Mystery Band.

On Sunday morning the Roman songwriter Avincola, back from Sanremo Giovani, presented his new record Turisti. It was then the turn of the Divae Project to announce Statosferico, a work conceived by Guido Bellachioma and Davide Pistoni. The album, which will be released on vinyl on June 12, saw the participation of great names in Italian progressive rock such as Gianni Nocenzi, Pericle Sponzilli, Elio Volpini and Lino Vairetti, as well as Gazebo, a singer who achieved success in the 1980s with “I like Chopin ”, but also a lover of 1970s rock. The record is dedicated to Demetrio Stratos, the unforgettable voice of Area, that can be heard in the title-track.

While the Music Day usually achieves a great success, this time the result was higher than expected due to the long suspension imposed by the virus. Organizers, artists and visitors agree: we need culture, we need cinema, we need music.
