100th Anniversary of House of Bixio

From January 28 to September 13, 2020, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the House of Bixio, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, Rome, held the exhibition Cesare Andrea Bixio – Musica e Cinema nel ‘900 italiano, dedicated to the famous author of over 500 songs, including such as Tango delle capinere, Parlami d’amore Mariù, Violino tzigano, Mamma, and 150 soundtracks for theater, cinema, radio and television.

However, Bixio was not only a composer but also an entrepreneur: in 1920 he founded the first publishing house of Italian popular song; and in 1960, Cinevox Record, the first record company dedicated to soundtracks, which over the years would publish recordings by Morricone, Trovajoli , Piccioni, Piovani, Cipriani, Gaslini, Rota, Ortolani and bring Goblin to worldwide fame.

On 21 June 2020, as part of the Festa della Musica, Maestro Claudio Simonetti, one of the founding members of Goblin, performed some pieces of his repertoire on the piano that belonged to Maestro Cesare Andrea Bixio. At the end of the recital, Franco Bixio, composer and president of Cinevox, presented him with a special prize from the record company.
